For diabetic patients and heart disease sufferers it is absolutely necessary to maintain a food diary. They should enlist every food taken daily and will submit this diary to the attending physician/dietician/nutritionist time to time to get good advice.
Foods should be measured at first to get a knowledge about weight of a regular food .One can easily use a 200 ml measuring cup or bowl. Foods should be measured after it is cooked .It is the way one can get a better idea about food weight even without measuring (just by looking at the amount of food).
Tea, coffee, curds, borhani should be made from skimmed or non-fatty milk. One should get used to drink skimmed milk to avoid extra fat. Please avoid full cream milk, condensed milk, cream, sweets, chocolate, and cheese as much as possible.
Vegetable oil should be used in small quantity while making dishes. Olive oil on he contrary can be used. Please avoid butter, ghee, dalda while making foods like cakes and pastries. Fried foods like chips, shomuchas, shingara, and puri should be avoided. If you are already a diabetic person try to avoid sweets and products made with sugar. If you are a non-diabetic person try to limit sugar, sweets, jam, jelly, cakes pastry as much as possible.
Vegetables and fruits should comprise a large chunk in daily meal plan for those who are suffering from diabetes and heart diseases. This also helps to increase the stool amount and helps to decrease the body fat.Wheats, cereals, vegetables and fruits are filled with fibers in great amount .Isphagula husk should be taken sometimes. It helps to alleviate constipation.
Red meat, egg yolk, lobsters, kidney, liver brain, pangash and chital fish should be avoided. Fish should be cooked with least amount of edible oil.
Diabetic patients , heart disease sufferers and those who are suffering from high blood pressures should try to minimize their salt intake .Pickles, canned foods , salted peas, chips, biscuits with high salt amount, tasting salt (used to make some dishes),bottled salad dressings, Carbonated beverages should be avoided.
